Chris Paul Looking to Solidify NBA Finals MVP Case in Game 3
By Peter Dewey
Could this be the year of Chris Paul?
The 36-year-old point guard has been the driving force for the Phoenix Suns all season, and he now is the odds-on favorite to win NBA Finals MVP at -140 odds on WynnBET.
Tonight, Paul and the Suns are looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead on the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum. While Milwaukee has been great at home this postseason (7-1), WynnBET expects the Suns to take one game in Milwaukee, as they are -116 to have a 3-1 series lead after four games.
Paul and company are looking to prove that prediction right, and I’m already feeling confident in one of his player props for tonight, so confident that I wrote about it in our roundtable for Game 3.
Sticking with Paul’s props, WynnBET has his points prop set at 21.5 in Game 3 and the over and under are a pick’em at -110 odds. Paul’s points prop has been steadily increasing, and for good reason, since his 41-point outburst in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.
Paul is averaging 27.5 points per game in the Finals, and he’s been unbelievably efficient as well. Paul is shooting 56.4 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from 3 and he’s made 14-of-20 shots from deep since Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.
This is peak form for CP3, who finally seems healthy after suffering shoulder injury against the Los Angeles Lakers and then missing the start of the Western Conference Finals due to COVID-19.
If Paul’s going to play this efficiently and still take 19.5 shots per game like he has so far in the Finals, the over is the way to go. On top of that, Paul’s made four and three shots from deep through the first two games, and the over on his prop to hit 2.5 3-pointers is set at an intriguing +145.
The NBA has thrown us a curveball, by adding Scott Foster to tonight’s officiating crew, which may make fans want to fade Paul. CP3 is 0-11 in the playoffs all time when Foster is officiating but I’m going to look at this game differently.
Paul has been exorcising demons all postseason, and with an NBA title in sight, who says he can’t do it again in Game 3?
