After his near-flawless performance in Game 6 and a day before his NBA Finals debut, Chris Paul is now the favorite to win Finals MVP.

Paul overtook teammate Devin Booker in the Finals MVP standings, who had been the favorite since the Phoenix Suns secured their spot in the Finals last Thursday.

WynnBET has Paul’s odds set at +175 and Booker’s set at +210. Behind the Suns players is Giannis Antetokounmpo (+350). Prior to the Suns winning the Western Conference, Antetokounmpo had been the favorite -- especially after he and the Milwaukee Bucks knocked off Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets in the second round.

Antetokoumpo has seen the highest drop in his odds, mainly due to his injury. He has been out for the past two games with a hyperextended knee. He isn’t expected to need a procedure, but his return is still up in the air.

Paul is averaging 18.1 points and 8.7 assists per game in these playoffs. Although he isn’t the leading scorer, Paul has been the closer for the young Phoenix team. Paul scored 37 points in Game 4 of the conference semifinals to get the Suns past the Nuggets. In Game 6, Booker and the rest of the Suns gave Paul as much room as he needed to go one-on-one and close the game for the Suns.

Paul has clearly earned the trust from the Suns and it is showing on and off the floor.

If the Suns are able to knock off the Bucks and win the franchise’s first NBA title, Paul will be able to complete his illustrious trophy case with two of the most coveted awards in the league.
