The Navy Midshipmen host the No. 2 ranked team in the nation when the Cincinnati Bearcats head to town in Week 8. It will be the first time Navy has hosted a top-5 team in 37 years.

The game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium has Cincy as the obvious heavy favorite. They are 6-0 on the year and this will be their first game against an AAC rival all year. Navy is also seeing its first AAC action of 2021 but hasn’t had much success outside of the conference if we are honest. With a 1-5 record, it is easy to see why the spread in this game is nearly four touchdowns.

Let’s review the odds at WynnBET and break down the trends to try and figure out if Navy can avoid getting completely destroyed at home by the nation’s number two team.

Cincinnati vs. Navy Prediction and Pick

Cincinnati is probably the last opponent that Navy wants to play in its first AAC action of the season. Navy is pretty much dead in the water and has looked pretty awful for most of the last seven weeks. While the team has done a good job of covering double-digit underdog spreads, going 3-1 so far, Cincinnati is a different beast. Navy did shake off two very ugly early losses by 42 to Marshall and 20 to Air Force and started covering games. But, they will be outclassed at every position this week and I see a lot of pain and sadness in their future.

Not only has Cincinnati dominated their opponents, but they have also been covering some sizable spreads along the way. Great news for us. The Bearcats have been exceeding expectations all year and have failed to cover just one game. Coincidentally, that game against Murray State was the Bearcat’s biggest spread of the year at 36.5. They “only” managed to win by 35 and, therefore, are not a perfect 6-0 ATS.

Since that game, Cincy has covered both as small favorites against Indiana and  Notre Dame, and massive favorites against Temple and Central Florida. In the Bearcats’ last four games, they have covered by a combined 51 points.

So,  the 27 point spread against a 1-win Navy team seems rather beatable. The team also has the opportunity to become the first power five conference team to qualify for the playoffs and will be extra motivated by that goal to keep winning big down the stretch.

Prediction: Cincinnati -27.0 (-110)
