Clayton Kershaw has had a subpar June, by his standards, but he gets the start against the Chicago Cubs tonight in what is a dream matchup to get back on track. He also gets the chance to avenge a 7-1 loss to the Cubs that occurred on May 4th, when he was taken for four runs in the first inning in Chicago.

WynnBET has the Los Angeles Dodgers set as -225 (bet $225 to profit $100) favorites to win tonight, and the Cubs are set as +175 underdogs. The total for the game is set at 8 runs.

The most betting value in the game, in my opinion, belongs in the player props. WynnBET has Kershaw’s strikeout total for the game set at 7.5, and the over at -160 odds looks like a fantastic bet.

Despite giving up more runs than what we’re used to seeing from Kershaw, he’s racked up nine strikeouts in three of his four starts in June. Even in his abysmal start against the Cubs in May, two of the three outs caused by Kershaw came via strikeout.

The bet is further supported by how bad the Cubs are at getting the ball in play. They rank 27th in Major League Baseball in team strikeout%, striking out on 26.4% of plate appearances. This has gotten even worse lately, as they strike out on 34.9% of at bats in their last three games.

Now they face Kershaw, who has a 10.6 K/9 rate so far this season.

If you don’t like betting strikeout props, then you should take a look at Kershaw’s earned run total instead. WynnBET has his earned run total set at 2.5, with the under set as the -130 favorite.

The lefty has allowed fewer than 2.5 earned runs in two of his four starts this month, but now he’s facing a Chicago team that is second last in MLB in OPS this month at .632. They’re also second last in runs in June, only managing to score 84.

No matter what way you look at it, betting on Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers in some capacity looks like the way to go.
