Clemson vs. Duke Prediction and Odds (Blue Devils Set to Blowout Tigers)
By Reed Wallach
Duke welcomes Clemson to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night as the Blue Devils continue on their quest to be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Clemson was able to erase a bad loss to Boston College last week with a blowout win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Can they stack up against the vaunted Blue Devils on their home court?
Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Clemson vs. Duke Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Clemson +11.5 (-115)
- Duke -11.5 (-105)
Moneyline:
- Clemson +510
- Duke -720
Total: 145.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Clemson vs. Duke Prediction and Pick
The Blue Devils are likely going to be without starting guard Trevor Keels for the second straight game, but I believe the team's size advantage on the block will pay dividends.
Clemson's compact defense limits teams ability to score from inside, but the team doesn't match up well against the likes of 7' big man Mark Williams of Duke.
The Tigers send teams to the line at a bottom two rate in conference play and the Blue Devils will force the issue down low with Williams and gigantic wings Paolo Banchero and A.J. Griffin. The Blue Devils have a 35% free throw rate in ACC play, third best in the conference.
On the other side, Duke will use their length to run a strong shooting Clemson team off the three-point line, where the Tigers shoot 38% as a team this season. In turn, the Tigers will be forced to face Williams down low. Duke is holding teams to 46% on two-point tries.
The Tigers have taken money after opening as 12.5 point underdogs, but I can't back them in this spot as head coach Brad Brownwell has struggled as a road underdog at Clemson, going 34-44-2 since taking over in 2010.
I lean towards the Blue Devils covering, and also the over with the chance of a ton of free throws in this game.
LEAN: Duke -11.5, OVER 145.5
