The Clemson Tigers had a disappointing 2021, finishing 10-3 and failing to win the ACC title for the first time since 2014. Regardless, Dabo Swinney's group won its final five games and get a cupcake Week 1 matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech won a mere three games last year while covering the spread just once in its final eight games. The Yellow Jackets barely lost to Clemson last September 14-8, though each of the previous three contests between these programs ended in blowouts.

With a ton of returning talent, especially on offense, can the Tigers get off to a hot start or will Georgia Tech hang tough once again?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook before getting into trends and my favorite bet in the matchup:

Clemson vs Georgia Tech Prediction and Pick

I've learned not to count Dabo Swinney out for long, and I'm expecting an angry, dominant start to 2022 for the Clemson Tigers. There's a ton of returning talent on the offensive side of the ball, highlighted by quarterback DJ Uiagalelei and running back Will Shipley.

Georgia Tech already struggled defensively and brings a younger unit into this season, so I expect a lot of early issues for the Yellow Jackets.

After getting shut out each of its final two games last year, Georgia Tech's offense doesn't inspire much confidence either. The biggest reason to back Clemson though, lies in the spread from the last couple of seasons.

In 2019, the Tigers were favored by 37 and covered. In 2020, they were 27-point favorites and covered again. Sure, last year was bad. But I think Clemson earned the benefit of the doubt over the last decade while Georgia Tech certainly has not.

Thus, I see value on the Tigers -21. Clemson had all offseason to contemplate its 2021 failures, and we should see an inspired, vengeful domination.

Pick: Clemson -21 (-110)
