Dabo Sweeney’s Clemson Tigers are 3-0, but it’s been a soft schedule thus far with their best win against Georgia Tech. Now, here’s their first test in Week 4 traveling to Wake Forest. We know the Clemson defense will be up to it, but will the offense be able to score enough to get their second ACC win? With Sam Hartman back on the field the Demon Deacons could turn this into a shootout.

Clemson vs Wake Forest Prediction and Pick

Before we get to everything, I just want to say I'm so glad that the Fighting Dabo Sweeney's are on the road this week because we don't have to watch Dabo sprint down the hill all alone before his players. He's a good coach, but aren't we all tired of him making it the Dabo show in Clemson? I mean look at how ridiculous this is.

Clemson has been able to score much better so far this year. Last year their offense was a disaster, but they have scored 35, 41, and 48 points in their three games. The thing is all of those games have been cupcakes. Last year, Clemson was still able to put up 48 against Wake Forest in their 48-27 win.

I still have a lot of worries about the Clemson receiver room. They don’t have the dominant guys that they did with Trevor Lawrence or Deshaun Watson. Plus DJ Uiagalelei might not be the best quarterback on the team. Cade Klubnik is a five star freshman who should be their future at the position.

I could see a world where this game is close and Wake Forest hangs around especially at home with a veteran play-making quarterback. This is basically the recipe that Pitt had when they beat the Tigers last season. Only, Sam Hartman isn’t Kenny Pickett and Wake Forest doesn’t have the defensive line that Pitt did a year ago.

It makes me nervous because I don’t think Clemson’s offense is playoff caliber, but Wake Forest isn’t the team to upset them. They nearly lost to Liberty a week ago and a failed two-point conversion was the only thing that kept the Demon Deacons in the top 25.

Pick: Clemson -7
