Vegas Odds: Clippers Projected for Blowout Loss After Kawhi Leonard Injury News UPDATE: Kawhi Out Indefinitely
By Peter Dewey
UPDATE: Kawhi Leonard is out indefinitely with a right knee sprain, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The team reportedly fears that Leonard has suffered an injury to his ACL.
What follows is the original report on Leonard being ruled out for Game 5 against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
Just when it looked like the Los Angeles Clippers had the momentum in their series with the Utah Jazz, the injury bug got in the way.
Kawhi Leonard reportedly won’t play in Game 5 on Wednesday and could miss the rest of the series with a knee injury he suffered in Game 4.
Leonard banged knees with Joe Ingles late in Game 4 and while he stayed in the game for a few minutes afterward, the issue clearly has bothered him enough where he will not be able to play tonight.
It’s a massive blow to the Clippers, who were originally just a three-point underdog on WynnBET prior to the news that Leonard would be out.
Now, WynnBET has the Jazz as an overwhelming seven-point favorite, which shows that Vegas doesn’t think that the Clippers can win without their best player.
Paul George, Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson will all have to step up in Game 5 if the Clippers want to head into Game 6 in Los Angeles with a chance to close out the series.
Leonard has been fantastic this postseason, as he’s averaging 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 57.3% from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc.
Utah is a -300 favorite to win tonight on the moneyline, while the Clippers are a big-time long shot at +250 odds. The total for the game is set at 221.
