College Football Power Rankings Based on National Championship Odds
By Reed Wallach
Throughout the college football season, we've been keeping tabs on how the latest AP Top 25 poll lines up with the National Championship odds over at WynnBET.
Here are the latest AP Top 25 teams in the top 10:
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Cincinnati
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- Michigan State
- Michigan
- Oklahoma State
- Ole Miss
Where do all these team stand as we head into the final two weeks of the regualr season? Here are the top 10 teams with their National Championship odds from WynnBET:
1. Georgia (-130)
Georgia is the odds on favorite to win the National Championship and there's no reason to doubt it. Against one of the strongest offenses in the SEC, Tennessee, the Bulldogs handled them with ease, winning 41-17 on the road. With an SEC Championship and two College Football Playoff games still on the docket, the value may be gone in this number.
2. Alabama (+350)
Alabama rolled over New Mexico State last week, 59-3, and has Arkansas at home before traveling to Auburn for the Iron Bowl, who may be without Bo Nix.
Bama seems to be on a collision course for the SEC Championship against Georgia, and will likely make the CFP even with a loss. I don't see much value in this number either considering they may have to face UGA twice.
In other markets, Bryce Young remains the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at +150.
3. Cincinnati (+6000)
Cincinnati got some help this weekend with Oklahoma going down on the road at Baylor, but they still are far from controlling their own destiny, as indicated in their odds.
The Bearcats will likely face a ranked Houston team in the AAC Conference Championship game which will be their only opportunity at making an impression on the committee at this point in the season.
4. Oregon (+2000)
Oregon heads into a massive game against a surging Utah team that has won seven straight on the road. The Ducks CFP hopes likely ride on their ability to beat the Utes not once but twice in the PAC-12 Championship game in a few weeks.
No. 5 Ohio State (+500)
The Buckeyes are picking up a ton of steam into the final part of the schedule, which includes a home game against Michigan State at Michigan and a potential Big Ten Championship game.
However, the team will be favored in all three games with emerging Heisman Trophy candidate, quarterback CJ Stroud, who is +175 at WynnBET.
No. 6 Notre Dame (+10000)
While it's a far cry to say the Irish are going to make the CFP, the team is playing their best ball of the season, beating a wounded Virginia team 28-3 on Saturday. Notre Dame will try to secure a New Year's Six Bowl appearance by taking are of business against Georgia Tech and Stanford.
No. 7 Michigan State (+8000)
The Spartans erased their first loss of the season to Purdue by beating Maryland handedly. Now, they must keep their CFP hopes alive with a win on the road against Ohio State. Sparty is catching 19 points in Columbus, but do control their own destiny ahead of the postseason behind the third choice for the Heisman Kenneth Walker (+475 at WynnBET)
No. 8 Michigan (+2500)
Despite losing to the Spartans a few weeks back, the Wolverines are in better shape, assuming they avoid a stunning upset to Maryland this weekend. The team will host Ohio State in a matchup that may decide the Big Ten East.
If Michigan were to beat the Buckeyes for the first time since 2011, they would have the inside track towards getting into the CFP.
No. 9 Oklahoma State (+8000)
The Cowboys have an outside chance at crashing the CFP if they win out. The team is in Lubbock to play Texas Tech on Saturday and then host Oklahoma in the annual 'Bedlam' game before a Big 12 Championship.
OSU has one loss on the year to Iowa State on the road, which isn't a total killer, but may need some help from the teams ahead to get into the top four.
No. 10 Ole Miss (N/A)
The Rebels got a nice win against Texas A&M this past weekend, but their CFP hopes are nonexistent with two losses already and a very low chance at making the SEC Championship.
