College Football Power Rankings Based on National Championship Odds (Tennessee Wants Alabama)
By Reed Wallach
Through six weeks we have established that Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State are the three best teams in the country. Meanwhile, the debates have been more focused on who will be the fourth team in the College Football Playoff?
Tennessee made their case on Saturday in Death Valley, beating LSU 40-13 ahead of their matchup in Knoxville against No. 1 Alabama. Hendon Hooker continued to build his Heisman Trophy campaign with a complete outing against the Tigers as the team moved to 5-0.
Here is where the best teams in the country stack up related to their College Football Playoff odds:
College Football Power Rankings
1. Georgia (+200)
It was business as usual for the Bulldogs, who had kept Auburn out of the end zone until the middle of the fourth quarter in the teams 42-10 win at home. They also take back the No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll this week as well.
Next Week: Vanderbilt
2. Ohio State (+190)
No Jaxon Smith-Njigba, no problem for the Buckeyes passing game that bludgeoned Michigan State on the road this weekend. C.J. Stroud had more passing touchdowns (6) than incompletions (5) in the 49-20 win.
Next Week; BYE
3. Alabama (+250)
It was a nervy effort at home the Crimson Tide, who didn't have Bryce Young on Saturday in the 24-20 victory against Texas A&M. Jalen Milroe performed admirably at quarterback in the reigning Heisman Trophy winners place, but the team leaned on Jahmyr Gibbs to pull ahead.
The Georgia Tech transfer rushed for 154 yards in the victory, but the team is going to need to find the passing game with or without Young if they want to keep up with Tennessee.
Next Week: @ Tennessee
4. Clemson (+1200)
The Tigers defense was dominant against an outmatched Boston College offense, winning 31-3 on the road.
Next Week: @ Florida State
5. Tennessee (+4000)
As mentioned above, this was all Tennessee from the jump, getting some timely fourth down stops and pouncing on the Tigers defense.
Hooker's day was fantastic, completing 18-of-28 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns, adding 63 yards on the ground, but the entire offense was humming. Jabari Small added 127 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns.
Next Week: Alabama
6. Michigan (+2000)
it was a slow start for Michigan on the road at Indiana, but the team locked down on defense and cruised to a 31-10 victory.
We still don't know just how great this Michigan team is, but will find out when Penn State travels to Ann Arbor next weekend.
Next Week: Penn State
7. USC (+2000)
The Trojans outgained Washington State by 53 yards, but outexecuted their PAC-12 foe en route to a 30-14 victory.
We'll learn a ton about hte Trojans next weekend when they travel to Utah.
Next Week: @ Utah
8. Oklahoma State (+6000)
The Cowboys had a tough test against Texas Tech at home last week despite playing their third string quarterback. However, Spencer Sanders continued his fine play this season, throwing for nearly 300 yards in the 41-31 win.
Oklahoma State is one of the three remaining unbeatens in the Big 12 at this point.
Next Week: @ TCU
9. TCU (+8000)
The Horned Frogs maintained the inside track in the Big 12, going to Kansas and winning 38-31. Quentin Johnson had the game winning touchdown grab as TCU improved to 5-0 on the season.

NC State lost their quarterback Devin Leary to a shoulder injury in the second half of the team's come from behind win over Florida State, 19-17.

BYE
12. Ole Miss (+8000)
Despite trailing at halftime, Ole Miss remained unbeaten this season with a 52-28 win over Vanderbilt. Jaxson Dart put together his biggest outing of the season, passing for 448 yards.
Next Week: Auburn
13. UCLA (+6000)
UCLA continued their rise up the odds board by defeating PAC-12 favorite Utah at home on Saturday in impressive fashion.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson looked like the best player in the conference for the second straight week, completing 18-of 23 passes for 299 yards and four passing touchdowns.
Next Week: BYE
14. Kansas State (+50000)
Pretty? No. A win? Yes.
Kansas State went to Ames and beat Iowa State 10-9 to remain atop the Big 12. While the home loss to Tulane probably dashes any hope of the CFP, the Wildcats still can compete for the conference crown.
Next Week: BYE
15. Mississippi State (+25000)
The Bulldogs took advantage of a vulnerable Arkansas team and padded their resume among the SEC elite, 40-17.
The Bulldogs have looked like a different team at home, beating up on the Razorbacks and Texas A&M, but we'll learn more about them when they go to Lexington to play Kentucky, who may have Will Levis back at quarterback.
Next Week: @ Kentucky
16. Oregon (+6000)
The Oregon offense continues to hum, hanging 40+ points again in PAC-12 play, winning 49-22 at Arizona.

The Utes' CFP hopes are likely over with their second loss of the season at UCLA, but the PAC-12 is not out of reach yet with games against Oregon and USC on the horizon.
Cam Rising still has this offense on point, but the defense appears to be a work in progress even through six weeks, allowing over eight yards per play to the Bruins.
Next Week: USC
19. Syracuse (+25000)
BYE
20. Minnesota (+30000)
BYE
21. Kansas (+100000)
While Kansas came up short with College GameDay in town, they battled through an injury to starting quarterback Jaylon Daniels and acquitted themselves quite well.
The Big 12 has a different dynamic this year with Oklahoma going through a transitional period under first year head coach Brent Venables, I don't expect this team to fade.
Next Week: @ Oklahoma
22. Coastal Carolina (N/A)
Coastal Carolina remained unbeaten winning at Louisiana-Monroe, 28-21. In a competitive Sun Belt, the Chanticleers hope to continue their three year run of excellence under quarterback Grayson McCall.
Next Week: Ole Dominion
23. Cincinnati (N/A)
It was far from easy for the Bearcats, who were 28-point favorites against South Florida, puling away late to win 28-24.
The AAC is wide open this season and last year's conference champions are still unbeaten heading into their bye week. However, road tests at SMU and UCF wait.
Next Week: BYE
24. North Carolina (+20000)
The Tar Heels are the only unbeaten team in ACC play from the Coastal division after knocking off Miami on the road, 27-24. Drake Maye has the UNC offense dangerous this season, but the defense remains a concern as they are outside the top 100 nationally in success rate.
Next Week: @ Duke
25. Illinois (+30000)
Illinois has the inside track to the Big Ten! After beating Iowa 9-6, the Illini improved to 2-1 in league play and 5-1 on the season. Behind an elite defense and a gritty offense, Illinois seems primed to hang around a wide open Big Ten West.
Next Week: @ Minnesota
