Week 3 of the college football season is upon us, and the BetSided team has been red-hot with upset picks this season.

A 2-2 Week 2 now has our crew at 5-2 on the season, and there are plenty more matchups for us to look at heading into Week 3.

Last week, the Iowa Hawkeyes upset Iowa State on the road (+165), and the San Diego State Aztecs blew out the Arizona Wildcats (+110) for our two winners. Kentucky’s narrow win over Missouri and Michigan’s blow out of Washington stopped another perfect week, but that isn’t going to stop us from looking for the best underdog picks in Week 3.

So without further ado, our best upset picks for this week’s college football slate with all odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:

No. 15 Virginia Tech (+125) Upsets West Virginia

We need to start giving Virginia Tech its flowers. The Hokies are No. 15 in the AP poll and have a top-10 win against North Carolina, but they’re the underdogs to 1-1 West Virginia and I’m not buying it.

Virginia Tech is 2-0 against the spread this season and is allowing a stifling 12.0 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Mountaineers gave up 30 points to Maryland in their season opener and are still out to prove they are a solid team. WynnBET has West Virginia as 3.0-point favorites against the spread and -145 favorites on the moneyline. I’m going to take the Hokies against the spread and as +125 underdogs on the road, in what will be another great win for Virginia Tech. -- Donnavan Smoot

No. 23 BYU (+150) Upsets No. 19 Arizona State

Jaren Hall is making people forget all about Zach Wilson, as the BYU Cougars took down a top-25 opponent in Utah last week and will have a chance to pick another win against another top-25 team in Week 3.

The Cougars have been great at home since the 2016 season, compiling a 22-10 record, and they’re home dogs against No. 19 Arizona State who frankly hasn’t played anyone this season.

BYU is battle tested and it has allowed just 16.5 points per game this season in matchups with Arizona and Utah. At +150 I love this pick for Hall and the Cougars to show that they belong as one of the nation’s top-25 teams. -- Peter Dewey

Purdue (+240) Upsets No. 12 Notre Dame

Notre Dame should thank their lucky stars that it's 2-0 heading into Week 3. The Fighting Irish needed overtime to beat Florida State, and then they barely escaped with the win over Toledo.

They've played two inferior teams in the first two weeks and won the games by a combined six points.

Now they take on a Purdue team that is arguably better than both Florida State and Toledo. The Boilermakers come into this week’s game off two impressive wins over Oregon State and UConn, scoring at least 30 points in both matchups.

Louisville (+215) Upsets UCF

Remember back in Week 1 when Louisville got trounced 43-24 by Ole Miss on Monday night? I grabbed the Cardinals at +10.5 before the line dropped a few points after Lane Kiffin was ruled out to coach with a breakthrough COVID-19 case. I thought I was so “sharp,” and as it turned out, that game was over before it even started.

So naturally this week, I’ll swallow my pride and go back to the Cardinals when they host UCF in a standalone Friday night matchup as seven-point underdogs (-115) at WynnBET. Louisville doesn’t have a great defense by any means, but since the dismal first half against Ole Miss, it has only given up 17 points in the last six quarters. The Cardinals will need their best defensive performance of the season against a UCF offense that’s averaging just under 50 points per game.

We’ve been waiting to see Malik Cunningham and Jalen Mitchell put it together for a full game through the first two weeks of the season. I’ll bet them to surprise Gus Malzahn and company on the road and get a big win in their house. -- Ben Heisler
