Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland vs. Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay: Who to Bet at Zurich Classic
The Zurich Classic, which is the PGA Tour's only team event on the calendar, is set to take place this week and there are two partnerships that are set in a league of their own; Team Morikawa/Hovland and Team Schauffele/Cantlay.
They are co-favorites at WynnBET to win the event at +800 odds, so which one should you bet on?
Let's dive into it.
Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland at the Zurich Classic
This is the team I'd likely recommend betting on this week. This is truly a dream team of young talent on Tour, and their ball striking is going to be hard to keep up with.
As I pointed out in my betting preview, birdie or better percentage should be a stat that you look at this week with scoring being paramount in the best ball format. Well, Hovland and Morikawa rank third and sixth in this category. Sure, their short game struggles at times, but you can all but guarntee that at least one of them will stick it close on each hole.
Let's not forget that when these two were paired up against each other at last year's Ryder Cup, they shot a best ball score of 59. If they repeat that again on Thursday or Saturday, they're going to run away with this thing.
Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay at the Zurich Classic
Sure, Patrick Cantlay finished second at the RBC Heritage last week, but Xander Schauffele's form has been all out of whack recently. He missed the cut at The Players, failed to advanced past the group stage at the WGC Match Play event, and he missed the cut at the Masters. That's not good.
These two golfers were paired up together for this event last year too, and they finished in a disappointing 11th place after many people believed they'd be waltzing to the victory circle.
Sure, they could win it this year, but too much of the data and history points to Morikawa and Hovland being the much better bet at +800.
