Colts vs. Broncos Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for NFL Week 5
By Peter Dewey
Two underachieving AFC squads face off on Thursday Night Football in Week 5 of the NFL season, as Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts travel to Denver to face Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.
Both Wilson and Ryan have not found the success they hoped for in their first season with new teams, and it’s led to their MVP odds tumbling, as well as their respective team’s Super Bowl odds.
The Broncos are fresh off a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, but the biggest loss in that game may be running back Javonte Williams, who left the game with what is believed to be a serious knee injury.
Meanwhile, Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 and could miss this game since it’s on a short week.
With both teams needing a win to improve their playoff chances in a tough AFC, who should we back in this matchup?
Let’s jump into the odds for this game and then make our pick:

Colts vs. Broncos Prediction and Pick
If Taylor and Williams both end up missing this game, both of these teams could really struggle on offense, as if they haven’t already this season.
Indianapolis ranks 27th in yards per play this season while the Broncos clock in at 17th. Denver’s offense did take a step forward in Week 4, but Russell Wilson ended up being the team’s leading rushing, as Mike Boone and Melvin Gordon carried the ball six times for 28 yards.
Ryan has been brutal at times for Indianapolis this season, leading the team to a goose egg against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 and just 17 points in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans.
The Broncos and Colts both rank in the top seven in opponent yards per play, so this could be a defensive battle, especially in a short week.
