We're being treated to a fantastically exciting Thursday Night Football game in Week 15, as the Kansas City Chiefs hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Chargers with first place in the AFC West on the line.

The Chiefs are currently set as 3-point road favorites at WynnBET, with the total listed at 52 points.

One of the underrated storylines for the game is that Melvin Ingram will be playing against his former team for the first time since becoming a free agent this past offseason.

Ingram spent all eight years of his career with the Chargers before signing with the Steelers in the offseason. He was then traded to the Chiefs on November 2nd in exchange for a sixth round pick. Because he was traded after the Chiefs faced the Chargers in Week 3, this will be the first time he'll be facing his old team.

Can Melvin Ingram Help the Chiefs Defense vs. Chargers?

Anytime a player faces his former team, there's always a little bit of extra motivation. But is his knowledge from the time he spent with the Chargers going to be able to help the Chiefs this week?

In this case, I'd say likely not. Largely due to the fact that the Chargers have a new head coach this season in Brandon Staley. If Ingram had played under Staley at all, he might be aware of his schemes, tricks, and other insight.

Ingram may know some tendencies of second year quarterback Justin Herbert, as well as any lineman he went up against in practice while with the Chargers, but I wouldn't let that affect which side you're going to bet on in this game.
