Cowboys Are Having Polar Opposite Betting Season Compared to 2020

The Dallas Cowboys are exceeding everyone’s expectations through the first six weeks of the NFL season.

Not only are they 5-1, but they’re the only team left in the NFL that’s undefeated against the spread at 6-0. We’ll have to wait until Week 8 to see if they can make it to 7-0 ATS, as they’re on a BYE this weekend.

WynnBET has responded to their early season success by making them tied for the fourth-shortest odds to win the Super Bowl at +900 (bet $100 to profit $900). The Cardinals and Rams are set at the same price.

The Difference a Year Made for the Dallas Cowboys

The 6-0 ATS start to their season is even more impressive for the Cowboys considering how their 2020 campaign started. If you recall, Dak Prescott went down with an injury early in the season, and Dallas went on to not cover the spread until Week 9.

In fact, the Cowboys tied the NFL record for the worst against the spread record to start a season at 0-8. There are three times in the betting history of the sport that started off their seasons 0-8 against the spread. The Cowboys joined the 1991 Bengals and the 2003 Raiders in “achieving” that feat.

They finished the season with the worst ATS record in the NFL at 5-11.

But now it’s a new year and a new Dallas Cowboys squad. They say that good times win but great teams cover, and if that’s true, then the Cowboys might be the best team in the NFL right now.

They head to Minnesota to take on the Vikings in the Week 8 edition of Sunday Night Football. Lines for the game have yet to be released.
