3 Best Cowboys vs Vikings Prop Bets to Make on Sunday Night Football
By Reed Wallach
The Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys meet on Sunday Night Football in what should be an explosive matchup.
You can check out our game preview for this NFC showdown here, but let's assess the Vikings player prop market with odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook. Cowboys props are currently unavailable because it remains unclear if Dak Prescott will play or not.
Sunday Night Football Prop Bets Vikings vs Cowboys
Kirk Cousins UNDER 280.5 Passing Yards (-115)
While I believe Minnesota is going to have a ton of success against the Cowboys defense, this is a high total. Cousins has gone over this number three times this season and I have a feeling that the game script will lead to him going under 280.5.
First, if Dak Prescott misses this game, the Vikings will likely be able to build a big lead against a Cooper Rush-led Cowboys team and begin to control the clock with the ground game.
In the chance Prescott plays, the Vikes may look to lean on the run game and keep the ball away from the Dallas offense.
Either way, I can't back this total given how I see the game playing out.
Dalvin Cook OVER 88.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Cook has missed time with injury this season, but looked healthy two weeks ago against the Panthers, rushing for 140 yards ahead of the bye week.
While Dallas' defense has received a ton of praise this season, their rush defense is below average. The unit is 22nd in Rush/EPA and 25th in explosive rush defense.
Factor in the weak rush defense with the possibility that Prescott may miss this game with a calf injury, making the Vikings a heavy favorite, the game script sets up favorably for Cook to have a big game.
This total is high, but he is averaging more than 91 yards per game this season on the ground. I'm taking the over.
Adam Thielen OVER 5.5 Receptions (+115)
Thielen has cleared this total in four of six games this year, and I like him to do it again with a favorable price on the number.
The Cowboys have turned their opponent over at a high clip, making people believe this is a strong defense. But this defense can be had through the air as well, posting the 14th best dropback success rate.
Thielen is the sure-handed target for Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, and I expect him to be involved heavily with the likelihood that Trevon Diggs is checking Justin Jefferson.
