The Jacksonville Jaguars just can’t decide if they’re going to be good or not, but it seems pretty clear now that Trevor Lawrence is a franchise quarterback. He played great in Week 14 and helped the Jaguars dismantle the Titans, 36-22, just one week after losing 40-14 to the Lions.

If we follow the trend then this could be another down week against the 10-3 Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys got a scare from Houston, but pulled it out 27-23.

Let’s look at the odds and trends for this game in Duval County that could give the 5-8 Jaguars even more life in the AFC South.

Cowboys vs. Jaguars Odds, Spread and Total

Jacksonville and Dallas Betting Trends

  • Over is 4-0 in Dallas’s last four against a team with a losing record
  • Over is 5-1 in Dallas’s last six games overall
  • Over is 5-0 in last five meetings

Cowboys vs. Jaguars Prediction and Odds

Everyone thought the Jaguars had finally arrived three weeks ago when they came back in the fourth quarter to beat Baltimore, but they promptly got blown out by Detroit the next week. Now we’re resetting the cycle after the Jags beat Tennessee.

I do think Trevor Lawrence has made massive improvements throughout the season and is now a top tier quarterback, but I don’t think that makes the Jaguars a real threat to take down one of the NFC’s best teams.

Against Tennessee, Lawrence went 30-for-42 for 368 yards and three touchdowns, but that was against the second worst pass defense in the NFL. The Cowboys allow the second least passing yards in football, 182.4 a game, and their defensive weakness is against the run. So Jacksonville will need to completely flip their offensive game plan.

They’re capable of doing that with Travis Etienne Jr. but as a team they haven’t run for 100 yards in a game since they beat the Raiders in Week 9. Their last two wins were against teams that are great against the run and susceptible through the air.

The Cowboys will get after Lawrence and make him uncomfortable, and Dak Prescott will have a bounce back performance against Jacksonville’s defense. The up-and-down Jags are due for a rough Sunday afternoon.
