Cubs vs. Brewers Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, July 6 (Bet Burnes to Silence Cubbies at Home)
By Matt De Saro
The Milwaukee Brewers are pulling away again in the NL Central after a strong week on the road against the Rays and Pirates. They have a slight cushion now over the Cardinals and a lead of more than a dozen games over the Pirates, Cubs, and Reds. The Cubs will get a crack at shortening that gap today in this series finale in Milwaukee.
Here are the odds for this game from WynnBET.

Cubs vs. Brewers Prediction and Pick
In a tale of two pitchers heading in different directions, we have Adrian Sampson and Corbin Burnes going head-to-head.
Sampson only has four appearances this season and went off to a fantastic start with a 1.69 ERA up until the end of June in 10 ⅔ innings. In that span, he allowed just two earned runs in three combined appearances against the Dodgers, Cardinals, and Braves. However, his last start against the Red Sox was anything but solid. Sampson allowed four earned runs on eight hits in 5 ⅓ innings. He was also not very efficient as it took him 103 pitches to navigate into the fifth inning. Sampson has a career ERA of 5.02 so I feel like he’s finally regressed back to his mean.
Burnes, on the other hand, is on an upswing right now on the mound. At 7-4 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, it’s not as if things were going badly before. But, Burnes did struggle a bit in June with a 3.45 ERA in five starts. However, he appears to be back on track after one hitting the Pirates on Friday. He did walk four, but the Brewers won 19-2 at the end of the day so no big deal.
The Cubbies have a solid offense, but I don’t see them doing much damage to Burns in this series finale.
Pick: Brewers -1.5 (-120)
