Whatever role he'll play, he'll be the one throwing the opening pitch and he'll hope to do better than he has so far this season. He enters the game with an 11.57 ERA, but to be fair, he's only pitched 9.1 innings. He should be able to improve on that mark in a hurry, if he can pitch well.

The bad news for him is he'll have to face a Cardinals offense that ranks ninth in OPS dating back to July 1. The Cubs likely won't give their pitchers much in terms of run support, considering they rank 25th in OPS during the same stretch.
