The Washington Nationals host the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series starting tonight at Nationals Park. These two just wrapped up a three-gamer at Wrigley Field and Chicago took two of three. Now the 38-78 Nationals will try to flip the script on the 47-66 Cubs.

Game 1, Marcus Stroman goes for the Cubs and Josiah Gray makes the start for the Nationals. Before jumping into our betting pick, let's take a look at the odds for this one at WynnBET Sportsbook

Cubs vs. Nationals Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line

  • Nationals +1.5 (-150)

Moneyline

  • Cubs -130
  • Nationals +120

Total

  • 8.0 (Over -115 / Under -105)

Cubs vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick

It seems that the Cubs are proving themselves to be better than the rest of the bad teams in baseball. They're 6-3 in their last nine against the Marlins, Nationals, and Reds. Now they have three more with Washington to continue to separate themselves from the basement of the NL.

It's been the pitching leading the way over this stretch for Chicago. It has a 3.48 ERA in its last 10 games, though Stroman has lost his last two starts. His last outing came against the Nats when he gave up four earned runs in the 6-5 Nationals win.

While Stroman doesn’t seem to have his best stuff in August so far, the Nationals pitching staff makes him look like Pedro Martinez. The Nats have a team ERA of 7.09 in their last 10 games. Over that stretch they are 2-8.

The Cubs seem to have a knack for beating the truly awful teams in the National League and there is no team worse than the Washington Nationals.

Pick: Cubs -130
