Over the 2022 season, the BetSided team of editors debate and share our best home run prop bet picks of the day in Major League Baseball.
WynnBET Sportsbook offers home run odds for several players in each MLB matchup, but not all players mentioned in the article are always available. Bettors can still wager on all these games as well as take advantage of several other unique prop bet opportunities.
Odds shown are consensus if they are not available at WynnBET. If listed as TBD, it means odds have not been made available as of this writing.
Best Home Run Picks for Sunday, May 1
- Giancarlo Stanton (+260)
- Andrew Vaughn (+475)
- Ryan McMahon (+475)
Giancarlo Stanton (+260) - New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals
When you’re hot, you’re hot, and Giancarlo Stanton is ON FIRE at the plate right now.Over his last five games, Stanton is 8-for-19 with two homers and six runs batted in. Now, he gets a matchup with a lefty in Daniel Lynch on Sunday with the Yankees looking to extend their winning streak to nine straight.
Stanton traditionally crushes left-handed pitching, as he is a career .289 hitter against lefties with an impressive .607 slugging percentage. Lynch has been solid through his first three starts (2-1, 3.38 ERA), but he has already allowed three homers this season.
I think someone on the Yankees takes him deep today, as the team is No. 2 in MLB in homers, and I’ll take a guess that it’s the red-hot Stanton. -- Peter Dewey
Andrew Vaughn (+475) - L.A. Angels vs. Chicago White Sox
There's some great value on Vaughn today as he faces right-hander Michael Lorenzen on the South Side today.
Vaughn has three of his four home runs this year vs. right-handed pitching and has been excellent in his advanced metrics this year; ranking 97th percentile in expected weighted on-base-average (xwOBA), expected slugging (xSLG) and hard hit % this season.
The wind at Guaranteed Rate Field is also blowing straight out to left field at 17+ mph; the same spot where Vaughn has hit all of his home runs this year. -- Ben Heisler
Ryan McMahon (+475) - Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies
Ryan McMahon has hit two home runs for the Rockies so far this season, and I think he's going to hit his third today. Not only are the Rockies playing at Coors Field today, but they're facing one of the worst starting pitchers in Major League Baseball.
They'll take on Reds lefty Reiver Sanmartin, who has.a 10.91 ERA so far this season. He also gives up an average of 1.7 home runs per nine innings this season, so at least one person is going to go yard against him today, and I'll bet on it being McMahon. -- Iain MacMillan
