Top Home Run Picks for Today

Jose Ramirez (+445) - Cleveland Guardians at Detroit Tigers

Ramirez gets Tigers starter Michael Pineda this afternoon, and while he's yet to homer off of him in eight career AB's, he's 3-8 against him with two doubles and a .625 slugging percentage.

Pineda leads all starter's on today's slate with a HR/9 of just under 2 per nine innings, and also has an expected ERA (xERA) of 6.27, compared to his 3.62 ERA. Regression is coming and when it does, Pineda is likely to get blown up in the process. -- Ben Heisler

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - Toronto Blue Jays at Oakland Athletics

We haven’t seen the overwhelming power from Guerrero Jr. as we did last year, but he still has had a solid year hitting balls out the park. He has 19 homers on the season, and bet on him getting No. 20 today. Vlad Jr. has hit 15 of his 19 home runs against right-handed pitchers, which Kaprielian is. He only had two plate appearances in his last time out, but I expect that number to be higher today.

This is a good matchup for the young slugger, and a chance to climb back into the home run leader race. -- Donnavan Smoot

Mike Trout - Los Angeles Angels at Miami Marlins

Trout destroys lefty pitching, hitting .333 this season, while slugging the same percentage as he does against righties (.619).

Now he gets the struggling lefty Trevor Rogers on Wednesday. The Angels are coming off a lackluster effort against Sandy Alcantara, but Rogers will be a nice jumpstart to the team's offense with his 5.56 ERA and propensity of allowing the long ball (1.3 HR/9).

Trout has 23 homers for a reason, eh is a threat against anyone, but he destroys lefties in particular. -- Reed Wallach

Freddie Freeman - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies

I think Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman is a solid bet to leave the yard against Colorado Rockies starter Jose Urena on Wednesday. These two have some history from their time in the NL East, and Freeman has launched four homers off Urena in 31 at-bats. He’s slashing an impressive .419/.500/1.000 against him in his career, and now he gets him in his first start of the season tonight.

Urena started the year with the Milwaukee Brewers, allowing five runs (three earned) and one homer in four relief appearances. He’s far from Colorado’s best pitcher, and I think Freeman stays hot against a familiar face tonight. -- Peter Dewey
