One season removed from a fractured ankle that cut his 2020 campaign short, Dak Prescott is back and playing at an MVP level.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has the team two games up in the NFC East at 4-1 behind one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Dallas is second offensive success rate, per SharpFootballStats and Prescott is leading the charge.

Oddsmakers at WynnBET Sportsbook are taking notice too, moving Prescott to +700 to win MVP, the fifth lowest odds.

Prescott's Elite Numbers

Team success is paramount, and we will touch on that in a bit, but the MVP needs the counting stats to hold up as well.

Prescott fits the bill through five games, tossing 13 touchdowns (third most in the league) and 10th in passing yards.

By every metric the Cowboys offense is elite, including Dropback EPA, where the team is fifth. Prescott is also completing pass at a near-73% clip, second best in the league.

Cowboys Success

Dallas is in one of the easiest divisions in the NFL, the NFC East, and already hold a two game advantage on the Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cowboys are 2-0 against their divisions foes and can help pad their record with four more games against them.

Not to mention, Dallas plays the 12th easiest schedule the rest of the season, with their opponents having a combined winning percentage of .483. With the ability to put up a high win total, Prescott's candidacy is coming into focus.

Crowded Award Race

It feels like every slate of games this season contains an MVP-like performance.

Take Sunday, for example, with Tom Brady throwing for five touchdowns and over 400 yards at 1 PM, only to be topped by Justin Herbert's video game-like performance at 4 PM. What about Josh Allen's signature victory over the Chiefs on the road on Sunday Night Football? That was quite the statement.

All of that may have been moot after Lamar Jackson stole the show on Monday Night Football.

Prescott is a worthy candidate, but we have a long way to go in the race for MVP. Now might be the time to open a position on the Cowboys quarterback, but stay tuned on this long race.
