Davidson vs. Wright State Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, November 9 (Foster Loyer Gives Wildcats Edge)
By Peter Dewey
The Davidson Wildcats are looking to start their 2022-23 season with a 2-0 record on Wednesday when they travel to play the Wright State Raiders of the Horizon League.
Davidson got off to a good start in Mat McKillop’s head coaching debut, crushing Guilford 87-64 on Monday. Foster Loyer led the Wildcats with 30 points, and he’s going to be the go-to option for this team after it lost Hyunjung Lee, Luka Brajkovic and Michael Jones from last year’s team.
All three of those players averaged double-digit points per game, so this may be a bit of a rebuilding year when it’s all said and done for the Wildcats.
As for Wright State, the team lost its two top scorers from last season after winning the Horizon League and making the NCAA Tournament.
However, it added Amari Davis in the transfer portal, who played for Missouri last season, and was the Horizon League’s Freshman of the Year in the 2019-20 season when he was at Green Bay.

Davidson vs. Wright State Prediction and Pick
Davidson is a slight road favorite in this game, and it makes sense given the Wildcats’ pedigree compared to Wright State.
Freshman Reed Bailey and junior Grant Huffman both stepped up in the team’s season opening win, but Loyer is the engine that will make this team go.
Wright State struggled defensively a season ago, allowing 71.8 points per game, so it’s possible Davidson can exploit this team with its shooting.
I lean towards the Wildcats with a lot of unknowns on the Wright State roster after a strong finish last season. The Raiders started slow in the 2021-22 season and now are playing in their season opener when the Wildcats already have a tune up under their belt.
I’ll back Davidson in this matchup.
