Dayton vs. VCU Prediction and Odds (Putting the Rams on Upset Watch)
By Matt De Saro
The Dayton Flyers take to the air to visit the VCU Rams at the Siegel Center in primetime Atlantic 10 action tonight. Both teams are jockeying for the No. 3 spot in the A10 with identical 6-2 records in the conference. The race for the A10 has become a log jam with five teams within one game of each other. Two of those teams are VCU and Dayton.
The Flyers enter this game on a modest two-game win streak with victories over Fordham and Rhode Island during a two-game homestand. This will be a revenge game for Dayton as well after losing by one point to the Rams in their A10 debut on Jan. 5. The Rams, meanwhile, are riding a three-game win streak that includes a win over No. 25 Davidson 70-68. VCU went through a rough patch while their PG Ace Baldwin Jr. was out but their offense is back on track and are home favorites in this A-10 battle. Here are the odds for this conference rivalry, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Dayton vs. VCU Odds, Spread, and Total
Spread:
- Dayton +4 (-110)
- VCU -4 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Dayton +155
- VCU -185
Total: 120.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Dayton vs. VCU Prediction and Pick
This feels like a good spot to take a look at Dayton as underdogs after their performances are growing stronger each week. They are coming off a very tough win over Rhode Island on Friday night but never fell behind from wire to wire. They led by as many as 11 at one point and while they almost blew it, they held on in the end. Despite this, they failed to cover for the third straight game and are 10-11 ATS this season.
They have also been playing to unders a lot with their last six games in a row falling short of the betting total. Maybe that is why the total for this game is so ungodly low at 120.5. Dayton’s offense is still growing and evolving but is averaging 68 PPG and is shooting almost 55 percent from two and 33.7 percent from downtown.
The first time these two teams played Daytons’ offense was not as good as it is now and they still only lost by one point on a last-second blocked shot. VCU, meanwhile, is dealing with a lot of offensive issues and ranks 275th in efficiency due to poor shooting and even worse ball security. I think that Dayton is on track for an outright upset win here on the road.
Pick: Dayton Flyers +155 to win
