The Denver Nuggets ended their two-game losing skid by destroying the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night, winning 106-75. Denver was a two-point favorite, but won by 31. The Nuggets have been playing without starting point guard Jamal Murray and will continue to do so until at least after the NBA All-Star break.

Defending NBA MVP Nikola Jokic is averaging 23.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 14 rebounds per game, carrying the load once again for Denver.

The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up a big win over the defending-NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, 113-108. The T-Wolves covered their +5.5 point spread, with center Karl-Anthony Towns, and guards D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards all recording 25 or more points.

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves Prediction and Pick

Minnesota is third in the NBA in pace percentage, moving the ball quickly and using a lot of possessions. Denver is the complete opposite, sitting 29th in the NBA in pace, slowing down the play.

Despite playing a quicker tempo offense, the Timberwolves have been solid on the defensive end of the ball, currently third in the NBA in defensive efficiency.

The main advantage for the Nuggets tonight, is their ability to collect rebounds at a much higher rate than Minnesota. The last game the T-Wolves lost was against New Orleans, who is fourth in the NBA in rebound rate. Denver is currently sixth in rebound rate.

The Nuggets will slow down the high tempo offense of Minnesota, win the battle on the boards, and Jokic and company will get the job done on the road.

I’m taking Denver on the moneyline at +110 and on the spread at +2 (-110).
