We’re less than a month away from the NBA season tipping off and BetSided is getting you ready one team at a time. Today, we’re breaking down the upstart Detroit Pistons. 

Detroit finished last season with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference at 23-59. The Pistons were 26th in net rating last season, but have a lot of potential coming into this year. 

After trading Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason, there’s absolutely no doubt about who the team’s offense will run through. Cade Cunningham was 1st-Team All-Rookie and is tasked with taking this team to the next level. 

The Pistons also had one of the more successful drafts, bringing in Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren. Will this be enough to get Detroit back to the playoffs?

Detroit Pistons Best Bet for 2022-23 NBA Season

The Pistons’ win total is set at 28.5 and I’m loving the OVER this season. Cunningham missed 18 games last season, including five of the first six games of the season. Those games are crucial as teams are still figuring themselves out and wins are more available. With him expected to be healthy, the Pistons should be able to grab a few more wins. 

Furthermore, Jaden Ivey’s presence will allow Cunningham to pick his spots and facilitate the offense to keep it moving. Their skill sets compliment each other well, forming one of the more intriguing backcourts in the league. 

Detroit went on a 14-game losing streak last season. I’m not saying the Pistons are going to be world beaters, but if they can avoid losing for nearly a month straight, I like the OVER on their win total.
