The basement-dwelling New Jersey Devils are desperate to climb out from last place in the NHL's Metropolitan Division, and they can do so tonight with a road win over the St. Louis Blues.

The Devils are 2-8 in their last 10 games, but sit only a point back from the seventh place Flyers. Meanwhile, the Blues are desperate to hold on to a playoff spot in the Central Division, as the Dallas Stars have begun to show up in their rear view mirror. They're still seven points ahead of Dallas, but that gap can be closed quickly if they don't continue to win.

This will be the first of two meetings between these teams this season. Let's check out the odds for tonight's matchup, courtesy of WynnBET.

Devils vs. Blues Prediction and Pick

I have officially retired from betting on the New Jersey Devils. Despite them having some promising statistics, they are the Seattle Kraken of the Eastern Conference in that they have nobody to put in between the pipes who can stop a beach ball. I'm ready to strap on the pads myself and sign with one of these teams.

New Jersey ranks dead last in the NHL in save percentage over the last 25 games, stopping just 87.53% of shots. That's a recipe for disaster against a Blues team that ranks first in shooting percentage over that same stretch.

I won't back the Blues as a huge favorite, but instead I'll lean towards the OVER six goals.

Lean: OVER 6 (-110)
