Diamondbacks vs. Mets Prediction and Odds for Friday, April 15 (Bet Chris Bassitt to Continue Hot Start)
By Matt De Saro
The New York Mets host the Arizona Diamondbacks in NL East vs West action on Friday.
This game features two teams that have experienced drastically different starts to the season. The Mets are off to a hot 5-2 start and have taken the early lead in the NL East. New York took two of three from the Phillies last week by a combined score of 11-6. The Mets haven’t lost a series yet this year.
On the other side of the coin, the Diamondbacks are in the basement in the NL West after starting the season 2-5. Arizona did manage to eke out a win in extra innings over the Astros 3-2 on Wednesday. But, they lost four games in a row before that small victory. Now, they have to head to try and turn things around in front of a hostile crowd.

Diamondbacks vs. Mets Prediction and Pick
It seems that the Diamondbacks are right back where they left off last season. They finished the year with the worst record in the National League and look primed for another run at the unwanted title. Zach Davies gets the start for Arizona here after giving up two runs in five innings in a loss to the Padres in his season debut. While Davies only struck out two batters and walked three, he also earned 10 groundball outs. He also was fairly efficient with 75 pitches in five innings.
While that is all well and good, the Mets’ Chris Bassist was lights out in his first start. He pitched six innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts and one walk. It did take him 93 pitches to get through six, but the results speak for themselves. If he can get that pitch count down, he could really extend his future starts. Bassitt faced the Diamondbacks twice last year with positive results, In those two starts, Bassitt went 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
On offense, the Mets are top 10 in runs scored and batting average while possessing the second-best ERA in the MLB. While I think that Davies has a fine game, it won't be enough to beat a surging Mets team.
Pick: Mets -1.5 (+105)
