Diamondbacks vs. Padres Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, June 21 (Back Arizona With Manny Machado Hurt)
By Josh Yourish
San Diego was able to take game one against Arizona 4-1 despite not having Manny Machado in the lineup. The win pulled the Padres back to even with the Los Angeles Dodgers atop the NL West division.
Machado was lost in the final game of the Padres weekend sweep at the hands of the Colorado Rockies to an ankle sprain, but has remained off the IL.
Tonight San Diego goes with Sean Manaea who enters with a 3-3 record and a 3.95 ERA. Arizona has Zac Gallen scheduled to pitch. Gallen is 4-2 with a 2.91 ERA.

Diamondbacks vs. Padres Prediction and Pick
Sean Manaea is trying to bounce back after a poor start against the Cubs in which he gave up five runs over just four innings. Manaea’s FIP is right in line with his ERA at 3.85 and most of his numbers mirror years past. This is shaping up as another typical Sean Manaea season, where he shows flashes of greatness, but never materializes into a top of the line ace.
Zac Gallen on the other hand has seemed to become just that this season. He has a few blips on the radar, six runs against the Royals in May and another six at Philly this month, but only four were earned in that disastrous outing. Other than that Gallen has been nails.
A Padres lineup with no Manny Machado does not strike fear in opposing pitchers. He leads the team in every offensive statistical category and in many cases it is not close. This is a chance for the Diamondbacks to take one and even the series at a game a piece.
Pick: Diamondbacks +120
