I know, I know, it’s the first full day of the college football season. But let’s not forget that Major League Baseball is entering the most exciting part of its season as well!

I’m aware that most people reading this article will be glued to their television sets for tonight’s college football games, especially Clemson vs Georgia, but there’s a key battle in the NL West that you may want to keep an eye on. That’s especially the case if you decide to wager a little bit of money on it like I am.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to take on the San Francisco Giants in tonight’s marquee baseball matchup, and if the Dodgers manage to pull out the win, they’ll pull even with the Giants atop the division.

The Giants have led the NL West for the majority of the season, but sportsbooks have held steady in setting the Dodgers as the betting favorites to eventually capture their ninth consecutive division title. Ahead of tonight’s game, WynnBET has the Dodgers set as -260 favorites to win the division, which is an implied probability of 72.22%.

Los Angeles is also set as the -165 favorite in tonight’s game, as Julio Urias will take the mound across from Jay Jackson. The Giants are set as +140 underdogs in what will be Jackson’s first career start. The total for the game is set at 8.5.

The Giants likely won’t ask Jackson to pitch deep into the game, as he’s only pitched 51 innings in his career and will serve as an “opener” for tonight’s matchup.

Dodgers vs Giants Prediction: Dodgers -165

As much as I’d like to root for the Giants, who have been a Cinderella story all season, it’s hard to pass up on the Dodgers are -165 tonight. Urias has dominated the Giants for the large part this season, keeping them to a combined four runs in three of his four starts against them in 2021. He does have one outlier start against San Francisco, when the Giants put up 11 hits and six runs against him back on May 29th.

The Dodgers are just too stacked to bet against the rest of the way out this season, and sportsbooks kept them as favorites to win the division for good reason.

I’m on the Dodgers to get the win tonight.
