Dodgers vs. Angels Prediction and Odds for Saturday, July 16 (Back Julio Urias With No Ohtani on The Mound)
By Josh Yourish
Last night, Clayton Kershaw was nearly perfect in the Dodgers 9-1 win over the Angels. The Dodgers inched closer to their 60th win of the season at 59-30, while the Angels dropped to 39-52. A pair of lefties go head-to-head tonight with Julio Urias taking the ball for the Dodgers and Jose Suarez getting the start for the Angels.

Dodgers vs. Angels Prediction and Pick
The Dodgers are rolling into the break, winning 14 of their last 16 games to distance themselves from the rest of the NL West. They now hold a 9.5-game lead on San Diego, and the Dodgers are not the type of team to let up. LA has won the last five times Urias has taken the mound, though his last time out did not go to plan. July 10 against Chicago, Urias allowed five runs over just two innings, but the Dodgers offense gave him the run support needed.
The Angels are 2-8 in their last ten games, and it still remains true that their only wins have come with Shohei Ohtani on the mound. Not much else really seems to matter for the Angels, they are an awful team and have been ever since their 14-game losing streak began. Yet, every time Ohtani is on the mound, they win. If he is not, they don’t.
Jose Suarez has struggled in July not going beyond the fifth inning in two starts, last time out he allowed four in 3.2 innings. The Dodgers offense is slightly less effective against left-handers with a .734 OPS compared to .783 against right-handed pitching, but that looks great next to the Angels .653 OPS against lefties.
Again, it’s really simple to bet on an Angels game. Is the starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani? No. Then fade them.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-117)
