Dodgers vs. Padres Prediction and Odds for Friday, April 22 (NL West Rivals Clash at PETCO Park)
By Matt De Saro
The San Diego Padres take a short trip North on Friday to take on in-state rival Los Angeles Dodgers. This has grown into one of the best rivalries in baseball and tonight should be one heck of a show. These teams are No. 1 and No. 2 in the NL West with the Dodgers holding a one-game lead over the Friars. Every win against a division team counts when you are vying for the pennant -- especially early-season matchups.
The Dodgers are the best team in baseball with a 9-3 record and .750 win%. They lead the majors in run differential at +32 and are 8-2 in their last ten games overall. The Padres have the fourth-best winning percentage in the MLB and are on a four-game winning streak. Their run differential is +18.
I expect an electric environment at Petco tonight and for this to be an amazing nightcap. Here are the odds for this game, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Dodgers vs. Padres Prediction and Pick
I think there is one very important thing about the Padres to bring up before we move forward. Yes, it's true that they are on a winning streak and have looked phenomenal during their last four games. However, it's important to note the Padres swept the lowly Cincinnati Reds in their last series. The Reds have the worst record in the bigs at 2-11 and are on a nine-game losing streak. The Reds are 13 games into the season and have a nine-game losing streak. Brutal.
The way I see it is that the Padres started the season 5-5 then were bailed out by a series against the Reds. This could be an even bigger issue if you consider that the Diamondbacks have the worst batting average in the majors. This means six of the Padres’ nine wins came against the worst offenses in the league.
Now, to be fair, the Dodgers also recently enjoyed a four-game sweep of the Reds. But, they also won their series against the defending champion Braves and swept the Twins.
Julio Urias gets the nod for LA tonight in his second start of the year. Urias has not been as good as expected this season, but his ceiling is so high I am not deterred. Urias is still just 25 years old and has the potential to develop into a legend in LA. But, he has to find his groove this season first. Despite a slow start, I think Uruas rises to the challenge tonight.
Dodgers -1.5 (+100)
