Dodgers vs. Pirates Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, May 10 (Gonsolin to Roll Over the Pirates Weak Lineup)
By Matt De Saro
The Pittsburgh Pirates did the unforgivable over the weekend. They lost a series to the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds, who had won just three games up until that point, took two of three from the Pirates by a combined score of 16-5. Brutal.
Cut to Tuesday and the Pirates now have to face off against the Dodgers in Game 2 of a three-game set. I think it’s safe to assume that the Dodgers are going to take this series against a team that just lost one of the worst teams to ever start an MLB season.

Dodgers vs. Pirates Prediction and Pick
Let’s be honest. If any team was going to lose a series to the Reds, it was going to be the Pirates. But that puts into perspective just how bad the Pirates are compared to the other low-level teams in the league. Especially on the mound where they allowed a team batting under .200 to score 21 runs in three games.
The Dodgers, on the other hand, are having a season for the ages on the mound and Tony Gonsolin has been a big part of that success. In five starts, Gonsolin has a 1.64 ERa and 1.09 WHIP in 22 innings. He hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in any start this year but bullpen issues have him sitting at 2-0. I will say his strikeout to walk ratio is concerning at 13:8. But so far he hasn’t been punished for that.
The Dodgers dismantled the Cubs in their last series and swept both them and the Giants last week. I don’t see the Pirates putting up much of a fight here and don’t have the arm on the mount to fight back with.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-120)
