Dodgers vs. Rockies Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, June 29 (Dodgers Desperate to Avoid a Sweep by Colorado)
By Matt De Saro
The Los Angeles Dodgers are still holding onto the lead in the NL West as they look to avoid an embarrassing sweep by the Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies already took the first two games by a combined score of 11-4 in a surprising fashion. It’s not often that the best team in the division gets swept by the worst. But, if the Dodgers aren’t careful tonight, that is exactly what will happen. A loss could cut their lead in the NL West to less than a game over the Padres. The Dodgers will be without Mookie Betts for at least a couple of weeks with a cracked rib.

Dodgers vs. Rockies Prediction and Pick
A lot of the weight for tonight’s game will fall on the shoulders of Julio Urias who is set to make his 15th start of the year for LA. Despite a blah 5-6 overall record, Urias has a 2.48 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. Both rank the lefty in the top 15 of the league. So far this month, he’s been even better with a 1.54 ERA in four starts. Those starts came against NL pennant hopefuls such as the Braves, Giants, and Mets. No slouches here. He hasn't allowed more than two runs in his last four starts and sports a great K:BB rate of 29:7. The term “locked-in” comes to mind when looking over Urias’ stats over the last few weeks.
Facing off against Urias tonight will be the Rockies’ German Marquez. He is far from “locked-in” with a 5.58 ERA on the year and a 4.40 ERA in five starts so far in June. Marquez did pitch an absolute gem on Friday against the Twins, throwing 7 ⅔ shutout innings. But, he’s been a risk on the hill other than that since the start of May. He’s allowed four or more runs in four of his last seven games overall and I don’t think he miraculously snapped out of his slump.
The fact is that the Dodgers remain one of the most dangerous teams in the league, while the Rockies are far from competing for even a division title. Colorado is a pain at home, but I don’t see them finishing off this sweep tonight.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-125)
