Does Not Having Lance McCullers Impact Astros’ World Series Odds?
By Ben Heisler
Lance McCullers Jr.'s season appears to be over even though his team remains alive for a World Series.
The veteran right-hander has been dealing with a forearm injury and has not pitched since Game 4 of the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox.
After sitting out the ALCS vs. the Boston Red Sox, MLB insider Jon Heyman reports that he will be unavailable for the Fall Classic as well.
McCullers has been outstanding this postseason, going 10.2 innings, giving up just one earned run on a solo home run.
While the loss of McCullers might seem substantial, the oddsmakers at WynnBET haven't even moved the line. As of Sunday evening when the news was announced, the Houston Astros were -145 to take home the Commissioner's Trophy, with the Braves as the series underdogs at +130.
Here's the Projected Astros Starting Rotation for World Series vs. Braves
Framber Valdez will be the Game 1 starter for the Astros after pitching an absolute gem in his last game out against the Red Sox. Valdez went eight innings, giving up just three hits and one earned run. He had only gone a combined seven innings in his previous two starts, giving up six earned runs on 13 hits. He'll be opposed by Charlie Morton of the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night with the Astros listed as slight moneyline favorites at WynnBET at odds of -128.
Remember, you can turn a $1 bet into $100 at WynnBET if there is a strikeout recorded in Game 1.
Game 2 will likely be pitched by Luis Garcia, followed by Jose Urquidy and potentially Zack Greinke.
