In an NFL offseason full of wild player movement, the latest one may not actually be about the trade, but what comes after it.

The Miami Dolphins traded for star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, sending a five pick package to the Kansas City Chiefs, headlined by the No. 29 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hill also signed a record extension with Miami, joining forces with Tua Tagovailoa in the AFC East.

The Dolphins are now +2500 to win the Super Bowl at WynnBET Sportsbook and +450 to win the AFC East.

Yes, Hill gives the former Alabama standout his best weapon in his short career. But this move isn't just about this season and competing in a loaded AFC, but it's for the future.

Dolphins Have Draft Capital for Future Trades

Miami may have surrendered a ton of draft capital in the trade to Kansas City, but the team still has plenty more after its moves in recent seasons, namely trading with the San Francisco 49ers last season at No. 3. The team has two first rounders next season if the Tagovailoa situation doesn't pan out at QB.

The Dolphins starting quarterback battled with inconsistency last season, but now has a ton of talent surrounding him as well as a strong offensive mind in new head coach Mike McDaniel.

Now, Tagovailoa must perform up to expectations in order to continue on with the Dolphins. The team is equipped with more assets to strive after another quarterback if this season is a failure. The stakes are very high for the third year quarterback, who is 13-8 as a starter, but averages less than 200 passing yards per game.

Miami is in an AFC East that has Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in it as well as a conference that has acquired a star quarterback in Russell Wilson from the NFC, so there is going to be a high bar for the Dolphins to clear to make the postseason, and it comes down to Tagovailoa's play at QB with his talented set of skill position players.

If the former National Championship winning signal caller comes up short, the Dolphins are well positioned to move onto the next QB with their set of remaining assets and talent on board.
