This is the game of the week. Kyle Shanahan vs. Mike McDaniel. With the Rams season in shambles this might be the new “Offensive Mastermind Bowl.” McDaniel is the newest wizkid to branch off from the Shanahan coaching tree and it’s going great in Miami this season. After a 30-15 walk in the park win over the Texans, the Dolphins are 8-3, the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

The San Francisco 49ers had a little bit of a rough start to the season, but have rallied to 7-4 after a 13-0 win over New Orleans in Week 12. The Dolphins are all offense, but the 49ers have been dominant on the defensive side of the ball, and that’ll make for an amazing matchup at Levi Stadium. Here’s what Vegas thinks about this one.

Dolphins vs. 49ers Odds, Spread and Total

San Francisco and Miami Betting Trends

  • San Francisco is 6-5 ATS
  • Miami is 6-5 ATS
  • Miami is 0-3-1 in last four road games vs. a team with a winning record
  • Under is 6-1 in San Francisco’s last seven home games

Dolphins vs. 49ers Prediction and Pick

If the Dolphins wanted to score 50 against Houston it seemed like they easily could have, but they pulled Tua after an injury to Terron Armstead at left tackle. Armstead strained his pec, but it is unclear if he will be able to play against San Francisco. That will be a huge injury to monitor in this game, because Armstead is a top 15 offensive tackle in the NFL according to PFF and he has yet to allow a sack this year.

Tua has been excellent when he’s played this year, the Dolphins don’t lose games. He is completing nearly 70% of his passes, has thrown for 2,564 yards this year, nearly a career high for a season already, and has 19 touchdowns to three picks. He is doing this while averaging 9.0 yards per attempt. This offense is electric with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle outside. Both went for 85 yards against Houston.

The 49ers have the No. 1 defense in the NFL and the Dolphins have the No. 6 offense in football, but they’re even better if you remove the games Tua was out. The last time we saw this Niners defense tested by a great offense, the Chiefs hung 44 on them. Great defense used to always beat great offense, but that’s not the case anymore.

Pick: Dolphins +3.5 (-110)
