The surprise team of 2021 will take on the biggest surprise of this season when the 3-0 Miami Dolphins face the 1-2 Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football in western Ohio. Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert seemed to be the clear cut best quarterbacks from the 2020 draft, but now Tua Tagovailoa’s emergence under Mike McDaniel has the class looking potentially generational.

We’ll find out just how real the Bengals early season struggles are and if the Dolphins can cement themselves as a true AFC contender.

Dolphins vs. Bengals Prediction and Pick

I was begging for the books to overreact to the start of the season and have this as a pick’em or even have Miami favored on the road, but they were smart and the Bengals are a three point favorite at home on a short week.

Joe Burrow finally looked like himself this weekend, he was hitting some deep shots and not turning the ball over. The Bengals only allowed two sacks, but that number is not higher because they did not have to face a superstar like TJ Watt or Micah Parsons. The Jets were in the backfield all day and according to PFF, all five starters on the Cincinnati O-Line allowed multiple pressures. That didn’t stop Burrow from throwing for 275 and three touchdowns.

Miami didn’t look as dominant on offense as they did against Baltimore, but they were able to beat the Bills who everyone has penciled into the Super Bowl. Although it did take basically every offensive lineman on the Bills to go out during the game and the entire Bills secondary to miss. It seemed like Buffalo had no chance in the heat and humidity of Miami on Sunday and if the game was played anywhere else Buffalo would’ve taken it. The Bills also had to screw up chances at the end of both halves for the Dolphins to escape with this win.

Mike McDaniel did a great job getting the ball out of Tua’s hands quickly to prevent the Bills pass rush from getting home and he can do that successfully with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on the outside. I think that the Dolphins are for real, but this is a let down spot on a Thursday after a huge win, and you could even wait for this line to move because the public should be all over Miami as an underdog.

Pick: Bengals -3
