The Philadelphia 76ers are on a tear since trading for James Harden and have not lost a game since dumping Ben Simmons in Brooklyn. While Harden and James Embiid are the leaders of this offense, another talent is quickly emerging for the Sixers in the form of Tyrese Maxey.

The former Kentucky Wildcat standout went from a bench option in his rookie year to a potential superstar halfway through his second season in the league. It’s amazing to see how quickly Maxey caught up to the pace of the NBA and found his stroke from downtown in less than two seasons.

Last year Maxey shot just 30 percent of his three-point attempts but has upped that to 39 percent in 2022. He’s also nearly doubled his attempts from 1.7 to 3.6 per game. He has also gone from an occasional starter to starting 53-of-54 games this season for the Sixers.

Maxey Leap Next to James Harden

Maxey has done a lot with that extra work and is averaging 17.6 points and 4.5 assists per game with a PER of 17.05. While those aren’t exactly superstar numbers, Maxey has taken his game to the next level since the break. In his last four games, Maxey is averaging 26.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. What is of particular note is his bonkers three-point shooting numbers over that span. In his last four games, Maxey is shooting 69 percent from downtown after going 14-for-20 from behind the arc.

Bet Tyrese Maxey Overs Moving Forward

According to Maxey himself, he stated during a postgame interview last night that he took time to rest after the rising stars game which could be the reason for his recent explosion. Maxey said he came back to the court feeling “rejuvenated” and made it clear that he knows his role as a three-point shooter. With 20 games left on the year, it will be interesting to see if Maxey can keep this pace up as the Sixers look to make a playoff run. Needless to say, his recent surge makes Maxey a great target for player props until the oddsmakers adjust to this rising star.
