Donovan Mitchell Expected to Have Another 30-Point Performance in Game 4
By Peter Dewey
Donovan Mitchell may have aggravated his ankle in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers, but Vegas doesn’t see that hindering his ability to put up another big performance in Game 4.
The Utah Jazz star has scored 30 or more points in five consecutive games and he has an intriguing player prop projection of 29.5 for points on Monday. The over (-120) is the clear favorite to the under (+100), but it’s for good reason.
Mitchell is having a record-setting playoff run, and Utah is the favorite to make it out of the Western Conference (+110) because of it.
The star guard has said he will be good to go in Game 4, and if that’s the case then I have to go with the over on his player prop.
Mitchell’s scoring prowess has been well documented this postseason, but his efficiency, something that he’s gotten some flak for in the past, has improved greatly this postseason.
Mitchell is shooting 47.9% from the field and 43.7% from beyond the arc this postseason, and he’s doing it on extremely high usage (23.3 shots per game including 10.1 3-pointers attempted per game).
Utah won the first six games that Mitchell played in this postseason before losing Game 3 to the Clippers. I made some bold predictions for tonight’s game, but I didn’t include this Mitchell prop because it seems much more likely that he does go over his projected point total.
WynnBET had originally opened Mitchell’s prop at 30.5 points, but now that it has dropped to 29.5 it makes even more sense to take considering he’s scored exactly 30 points in three of his seven games in these playoffs.
Despite his injury in Game 3, Mitchell still played over 32 minutes. Expect him to handle even more playing time as long as his body is good to go, as the Jazz could really use this win to take a commanding lead on the Clippers.
