The Los Angeles Chargers are aiming to get back in the playoff picture in the AFC on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kansas City won the first meeting between these two teams, but a late Chargers touchdown allowed them to cover the spread.

Do we see a similar result tonight? Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert are almost a guarantee for fireworks on offense, especially with Los Angeles getting some weapons back tonight.

Let’s dive into the odds and a pick for this game:

Chiefs vs. Chargers Prediction and Pick

I think the Chargers are being undervalued here, especially at home.

When you look back to every matchup (five) between these two teams with Justin Herbert at quarterback, the games are much closer than you’d think. The Chargers have kept every game within one possession or simply won outright.

Chiefs vs. Chargers History With Justin Herbert

  • Sept. 20, 2020: Chiefs 23, Chargers 20 (OT)
  • Jan. 3, 2021: Chargers 38, Chiefs 21
  • Sept. 26, 2021: Chargers 30, Chiefs 24
  • Dec. 16, 2021: Chiefs 34, Chargers 28 (OT)
  • Sept. 15, 2022: Chiefs 27, Chargers 24

So, the Chargers have covered this number in four of five games in the Mahomes-Herbert era, and the lone loss ATS was in overtime.

That’s pretty damn good for a team that’s a major dog at home in this game. With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams back in the lineup, I think the Chargers offense could be the most explosive it's been all season tonight.

5.5 is too many points to give this Los Angeles team on Sunday night.
