Drew Brees Says 'Sky Is the Limit' for Rising Star Justin Herbert
By Peter Dewey
If you aren’t already on the Justin Herbert hype train, now may be your final chance ahead of the 2021 season.
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees praised the Los Angeles Chargers’ second-year signal-caller on Wednesday, and it’s right in line with how WynnBET has been projecting the Chargers heading into 2021.
“There’s no doubt, I think his physical tools are as good as anybody I’ve ever seen,” Brees said. “By all accounts, he’s a great worker. He’s got great leadership qualities, he’s got a lot of intangibles. So I think the sky is the limit for a guy like him.
“I love the fact that he’s in this offense with Joe Lombardi. Lombardi comes from the New Orleans Saints, was my quarterbacks coach for almost all 15 years there. So I think he brings a ton of knowledge and experience — not only coaching quarterbacks but also within the system that we ran. And I think he’ll be able to tailor-make that for Justin’s skills, and obviously the tools and weapons that he has around him.”
WynnBET has the Chargers on the brink of the playoffs in 2021, as their win total is set at 9.5, with the under (-140) favoring the over (+110). A 9-8 or 10-7 season would likely put the Chargers right in play for a wild card spot.
While the Chargers are expected to improve, it’s Herbert who is inspiring it all. The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year had a magnificent first season. He threw for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions to solidify himself as one of the best young quarterbacks in the game.
Vegas has taken notice, as Herbert’s +2000 MVP odds are tied for 10th-best in the NFL heading into the 2021 campaign.
Playing in a division with Patrick Mahomes will make things tough on Herbert from a wins standpoint, but he seems poised to put up big numbers once again in 2021.
