We have Friday night ACC action for you this week with two teams heading in opposite directions.

Duke is trending towards a bowl berth in their first season with Mike Elko as the head coach while Boston College is heading towards another down season under Jeff Hafley, 2-6 on the season and is fresh off a 13-3 loss to UConn.

Duke had an extra week to prepare for this game and will be entering in the rare spot as a favorite of over a touchdown, is there letdown in order?

Let's check out the odds:

Duke vs. Boston College Odds, Spread and Total

Duke vs. Boston College Betting Trends

  • Boston College is 1-7 against the spread (ATS) this season
  • Duke is 5-3 ATS this season, 2-2 as favorites
  • Boston College has gone UNDER in three of five games this season

Duke vs. Boston College Prediction and Pick

Boston College's offensive line could be the worst unit in the Power 5 due to the myriad of injuries it has suffered all season. The team was kept out of the end zone against UConn and they turned to backup quarterback Emmett Morehead after Phil Jurkovec left the game with an injury.

Jurkovec's injury clouds this bet even more but he has been ineffective behind the turnstyle offensive line. The Eagles have the lowest line yards mark in the country and average 2.25 yards per carry, the second lowest number in the country.

Duke's offense has shown the ability to score this season with Riley Leonard at quarterback, who has combined for 18 touchdowns and four interceptions, but BC's defense has held up nicely on the year, 46th in defensive success rate.

Both teams are bottom half of the country in plays per minute, and this game could be a bit of a slog with BC's prodding offense. I can't trust Duke to go on the road and win by double digits, but I also can't trust Hafley's offense to bust out in this spot with Jurkovec maybe out. I'll side with the under.
