Duke vs. Clemson Prediction and Odds (Duke To Struggle Again)
By Reed Wallach
After beating their arch rival North Carolina last weekend, Duke laid an egg at home as double digit favorites to Virginia.
The Blue Devils are still the class in a lowly ACC this season, the only team in the AP Top 25, but they haven't been the dominant force they should be. The team has dropped games on the road against Florida State and also has a loss at home to Miami on their ledger.
The team heads to Clemson in hopes of getting back on track, but may struggle after Clemson played well at Cameron Indoor last month, losing by two as double digit underdogs. Can they put up another strong performance against the Blue Devils? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Duke vs. Clemson Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Duke: -6.5 (-110)
- Clemson: +6.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Duke: -310
- Clemson: +250
Total: 142 (Over -110/Under -110)
Duke vs. Clemson Prediction and Pick
Duke lost to Virginia at home despite the Cavaliers shooting just 2-of-12 from beyond the arc, which is concerning when they travel to Littlejohn Colliseum to face a much more adept shooting team in Clemson. The Tigers are shooting 38% from deep on the season and can mitigate the Blue Devils on the glass with the second best defensive rebounding rate in conference play.
Brad Brownwell's defense is built to allow the three-point shot, allowing the 12th highest three-point rate in the ACC and while Duke has some proficient shooters, they like to play bully ball down low. Clemson can make the Blue Devils uncomfortable and muck up their offensive sets and hang around for much of this one like they did last month.
It's also worth keeping an eye on Duke's turnover numbers, which are now outside the top 10 in ACC play. Clemson is top half of the league in forcing TO's; this matchup may be puzzling for Duke on the offensive side of the ball.
This is simply too many points to give a frisky Clemson team that lost on the road on Saturday to Georgia Tech but have had plenty of time to prepare for the ACC leaders coming to town.
LEAN: Clemson + 6.5
