Don’t look now, but the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are all of a sudden the best team in the ACC Atlantic. Clemson has dominated that side of the conference for a number of years, but now at 4-0 in the ACC and 7-0 overall, Wake Forest looks like a step above the rest, especially with Clemson falling to 3-2 in conference play.

The Demon Decons will look to keep their undefeated season alive when they host the Duke Blue Devils in Week 9 college football action. Duke will be seeking its first win of the season in conference play, falling to 0-3 in the ACC when it fell to Virginia 48-0 in Week 7. The Blue Devils will be coming off a BYE week when they face Wake Forest.

Duke vs. Wake Forest Prediction and Pick

Despite the high total of 69.5, the OVER on that number is the bet I’m looking at for this ACC matchup. If you’re betting on the OVER, you’re usually banking on both offenses being better than the defenses, and that’s exactly what we have here.

Wake Forest ranks 21st in offensive yards per play, averaging 6.4, and Duke is respectable in this statistic in their own right, ranking 46th in offensive yards per play at 5.8.

The same can’t be said for each defense. The Demon Deacons allow an average of 5.8 yards per play on defense which ranks 89th in the country, and the Blue Devils defense ranks among the worst in college football at 116th in opponent yards per play (6.5).

Give me the OVER 69.5 at -110 in this ACC matchup.
