Atlantic 10 action returns on Monday night with a matchup between the Duquesne Dukes and the Davidson Wildcats. While the two are rivals in the A-10, I use that term loosely based on how different each team is. By that, I mean that the Wildcats are very good and the Dukes are a raging dumpster fire.

Davidson leads the A-10 with a 20-4 overall record and a 10-2 record in the conference. The Dukes, on the other hand, are firmly in last place and have won just one of their last 10 games against a conference opponent. The Dukes are 6-16 overall and have lost nine games in a row after winning their first A-10 game of the year against UMass.

I could say that the Dukes are looking to bounce back here. But, let's be real. That isn't going to happen with Davidson playing on the road and so close to taking home the conference title. Davidson is the bounce-back team here after losing just their second A-10 game of the year to Rhode Island. Here are the odds for this Atlantic 10 matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Duquesne vs. Davidson Prediction and Pick

I’ll say that I was very high on Davidson moving forward based on a track record of winning games they should. That all changed in their last game when they were beaten rather convincingly by a very average 13-10 Rhode Island team. I won’t dwell on the specifics, but it does give me pause before I count the Dukes out of this game completely. At least from an ATS standpoint.

Speaking of which, another issue I have with the favorites here is their recent record against the spread. Davidson enters tonight on a five games ATS losing streak at home and is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. This is also the Wildcats' biggest spread of the season and they have had very mixed results from big spreads this year. In the first half of the year, things were going great and came out of the gate with a 13-0 ATS record before failing to cover against Rhode Island in their first game. The Dukes are 4-8 ATS in conference games and 1-2 ATS coming off a loss.

Normally this would be the part of the article where I side with the 15 point underdog because the favorite hasn’t been a reliable ATS team since New Year’s. But, what I haven’t yet mentioned is how god-awful the Dukes are against the spread along with every other facet of playing basketball. The Dukes have covered just once in their last nine games and are 0-5 ATS as road dogs, 2-8 in conference games, and 7-15 against the spread overall.  It’s easy to see why this is an issue with the 286th ranked offense in the nation doing nothing to help the 224th defense to win games. Davidson, meanwhile, ranks 55th in total scoring and their defense is at least in the top 125.

Lean: Davidson -15 (-110)
