Dustin Johnson U.S. Open Odds, Prediction and Historical Performance
By Joe Summers
Dustin Johnson is perhaps the the most talented golfer who elected to forego his PGA Tour membership to join the LIV Tour. The world No. 16 finished in eighth at 1-under par in the inaugural LIV Tour event last weekend and returns to the U.S. Open at The Country Club at Brookline this week.
Johnson has traditionally played well at the U.S. Open, and will be allowed to play due to the United States Golf Association being the governing body of the major instead of the PGA Tour.
As one of the faces of a now-disgraced group of golfers, what are Johnson's chances of success this weekend and what should bettors do?
Dustin Johnson U.S. Open Odds
WynnBET Sportsbook has the two-time major champion listed at +3600 to win the 122nd U.S. Open.
Johnson is also listed at +850 to finish in the top-five, +400 to take top-10, and +185 to place top-20.
He is a -140 favorite over two-time U.S. Open winner Brooks Koepka in a tournament head-to-head matchup.
Dustin Johnson U.S. Open Pick and Prediction
Johnson had been on a poor stretch prior to joining the LIV Tour. In his last three tournaments, he missed the cut twice and took T59 at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
He ranks 42nd in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee and 24th in Stokes Gained: Approach-The-Green, but has struggled otherwise, ranking 150th in Strokes Gained: Around-The-Green and 158th in Strokes Gained: Putting.
With the cold shoulder Johnson is likely to receive from his fellow competitors after an obvious money-grab combined with his struggles entering the weekend, I'd recommend staying away from the former U.S. Open champion. In fact, I rather fancy Brooks Koepka at +105 in their tournament head-to-head at WynnBET.
Dustin Johnson U.S. Open Past Performances
Johnson has been consistently excellent at the U.S. Open, finishing in the top-10 five times in the last eight years.
In 2016, he overcame a four-shot deficit entering the final round to win his first major. He's only missed the cut twice in 14 U.S. open tournaments and finished T19 last year.
