We’re set to get our second all-NFC East primetime matchup in Week 3 when the Dallas Cowboys play host to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Both teams will enter the game with a 1-1 straight up record, but it’s the Cowboys who will be coming off a Week 2 upset victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Eagles played in one of the uglier games of the weekend, falling to the San Francisco 49ers 17-11.

The Eagles are 1-1 against the spread heading into this matchup, and the Cowboys are 2-0 against the spread, managing to cover as underdogs in Week 1 against the Buccaneers despite losing the game.

The two division rivals went 1-1 against each other in 2020. The Eagles won and covered as 10-point favorites in Week 8 by a final score of 23-9, but the Cowboys got revenge in Week 16, winning outright as 3-point underdogs, 37-17.

Eagles vs. Cowboys Prediction and Pick

I’m going to take the Eagles and the points in this NFC East matchup.

Philadelphia is better both offensively and defensively than you likely think. The Eagles are averaging 6.2 yards per play on offense, which is right behind the Cowboys at 6.4. They also have one of the best defenses in the entire NFL through the first two weeks, ranking third in opponent yards per play at 4.3. Only the Panthers and Bills (both at 3.7) rank better in that statistic.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys defense is downright pitiful. They rank 28th in opponent yards per play, allowing teams to gain an average of 6.7 yards against them.

The Eagles have also been fantastic against the pass this season, allowing the fourth fewest passing yards per game at 162.5. This will play a big role in their game against the Cowboys, as 73.02% of the yards gained by Dallas come through the air.

It’s an ugly bet with how much better the Cowboys look on paper, and to be fair, they have had the tougher schedule through the first two weeks, but the Eagles and the points is the right bet to make in this divisional showdown.

The game will kick-off at 8:15pm eastern on Monday, September 27th.
