In Week 4, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Carolina Panthers lost to Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. Those are both respectable losses, but which team will bounce back in Week 5: the Eagles or the Panthers?

Jalen Hurts did everything he could to keep up with the high-scoring Chiefs, throwing for 387 yards and two touchdown passes and leading the team in rushing yards with 47.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell was an interesting performer out of Philadelphia’s backfield, picking up 31 yards and a touchdown on the ground on just three carries and catching six passes for 58 yards. Miles Sanders looked like the inferior running back in the loss, and it's certainly something worth monitoring going forward.

The final score of the Panthers-Cowboys game made the game look a lot closer than it really was. Dallas held a 33-14 lead going into the fourth quarter, but Carolina put up two late touchdowns. The Panthers failed to record a single turnover and Sam Darnold was sacked five times to Dak Prescott’s zero sacks.

Eagles vs. Panthers Prediction and Pick

Philadelphia has allowed 150.3 rushing yards per game (30th in the NFL), which would have been a great matchup for the injured Christian McCaffrey, but still can be for his replacement, Chuba Hubbard.

Both passing defenses in this matchup are currently in the top 10 for passing yards allowed, so there should be quite a bit of ground action in this one, and ground games churn the clock.

After allowing over 200 rushing yards to Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard last week, I’m not as high on this Carolina run defense as much anymore. I think all of the Panthers’ numbers are slightly skewed after playing the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans in the first three weeks.

I’m taking the Eagles at +170 and on the spread too, because the Panthers are weaker than the numbers will indicate and Jalen Hurts won’t have to keep up with Patrick Mahomes in Week 5.
